Beach Trip

Now that we have been back from the beach for over a month it seemed like the perfect time to get the pictures up. Hahaha. This year we went with all of the Rice side of the family. We stayed in a super big and super nice house with a theater room and everything. It was a fun time with the whole family and Micah really enjoyed playing with all his cousins.

I apologize if this pictures offends you, it cracks me up.

Mama to Mommy

As of last week this cute, silly boy is now calling me Mommy more then Mama. Just one more sign he is transitioning from toddlerhood to boyhood. (Though when he gets hurt it is still Mama). I don't want to get too sentimental just mark that our boy is growing and remind myself to enjoy these little years.

8 Months

8 months...we are very quickly reaching a year! I know it is the typical parental mantra but time flies, and this month was no exception. Jane's large motor development is changing quickly. She has mastered army crawling and is starting to pull herself up onto her knees. Getting from sitting to tummy is quite easy and just a couple days ago she moved from floor to sitting. We can no longer leave her alone for long. She is a sweet girl with a wonderful personality. Smiles come easily, so do laughs and she will even do a pretend laugh. And she is very ticklish. When she wants to be picked up she will army crawling over to me and then super man (arms pulled back, kicking legs). She still is quite attached to me and I'm still her number one comforter, I must I am quite okay with that. Jane is beginning to talk and we are encouraging Mama and Papa, nothing consistent yet. Sorry for these jumbled thoughts on Jane, I'm just writing down what is coming to mind to help me remember this sweet girl at 8 months.

Sibling Love

It is fun to see Micah and Jane's relationship develop and how much they enjoy each other. The other day Jane got hurt and Micah started being goofy falling on the ground trying to cheer her up. And it worked! So great to see that he cared about wanting to make her feel better.
The kids share a room and there have been a few mornings when I go into get them they are laughing and talking with each other. Okay Micah is doing the talking but they are both laughing. Looking forward to hearing more conversations between these two and my laughing.

Micah also looks out for Jane, trying to get her to stay away from things she can't touch. Of course he might not be doing it right, but his intentions are sweet.

Don't get me wrong things are not always this lovely-dovely. There are times Micah is taking toys from Jane or trying to push her around.

She's Moving

A little over two weeks ago Jane figured out how to army crawl. It didn't take her long to become quite good at it. Just within the last few days she has become more adventurous and curious which means she has been making her away into different rooms around the house. It won't belong before she is really moving.

7 Months

Another month has gone by. Not just gone by but flown by. I haven't even blogged once this past month, goodness. Jane is sure changing and growing. We had her 6 month well baby check up (a month late) and she is 17 pounds and 28" tall. That is around the 55 percentile for weight and 94 percentile for height. Though this past week has been rough for her. Jane started out with a high fever that progressed into her refusing solid food, and limited nursing and then to crying in pain. After a visit to the ER (which we left as soon as we got there because symptoms went away), a visit to the doctors and then back to the doctors again we found out she had an ear infection. She has lost 12oz but has begun to eat solids again so hopefully she will put that weight back on soon. I am happy to see smiles back on my girl's face. Jane has become a mover. Before she would wiggle her way across the room shifting her weight and using her head. Now she figured out how to army crawl and is much quicker. She is also beginning to figure out how to get from sitting to the floor, no more leaving her alone. Jane is entertained by Micah, she laughs at him more then anyone else. She is also much more interested in his toys then the baby toys. Her ear piercing squeals and screams continue, we joke that she is going to be a soprano. I am enjoying getting to see more of Jane's personality.

6 Months

Why oh why has another month already gone by!?! Jane is now 6 months! We are getting to see more of her personality come through. She is easy to get to smile, still have to work to get laughs though. She isn't too much of a talker yet. I'm sure there will come a day when she won't stop talking. She rolls herself all around the room now, and is trying to push herself forward. I have a feeling we will have an earlier crawler. She doesn't know how to get from floor to sitting or sitting to floor yet so I can still set her down and she will stay there, at least for now. She loves playing with tags, Micah did at this age too. It is a good thing I didn't get the tags off of everything. We have introduced food, she eats lunch and dinner. She has had rice cereal, oatmeal, whole wheat grain, bananas (cut those out because of constipation), peaches, avocados, sweet potatoes and prunes. Next up is squash and pears. We have also cut the third nap, occasionally she will still take it if she wakes up unusually early from her afternoon nap. Other wise her day is started between 6:45 and 7:00 with a nap around 9:00, nap at 1:00 and bed around 7:00. I am thankful both kids rest at the same time in the afternoon to give me sometime to accomplish a few things.

Being 6 months I had fun taking a few pictures of her. I am happy with a some of the ones I got. They capture bits of her personality well.
