My boy is a genius! Not biased at all of course. :) Well what makes him a genius this time is he stacked three blocks all by himself, I didn't even have to show or ask him to do it.
He sees the blocks.
Got one on there.
Now lets get another one on.
There we go. (I didn't get the picture but he did take his hand away and they all stayed up).
And now on to the next.

Putting On
Micah has developed a funny quirk. He likes to put things over his head to hang around his neck. He particularly likes this wooden toy you see in the picture. I'm thinking I should crochet him a little scarf to play with.
He is also now attempting to put on certain clothing items. Like his coat, he is happy when he gets it to stay on his head. He is also starting to hold up his feet and put his sock by them. He loves putting on, or at least trying to put on shoes. He hasn't tried to put anything else on yet.

Harvest Party
On the 16th we had our annual harvest party. We make lots and lots of apple cider, around 350 gallons. This year we had a hard time finding apples since harvest is unusually late this year. Typically we use a variety of apples to add a depth with flavor to the cider. But this year we were only able to find one variety. The cider still tastes great!
Micah LOVES gator rides. Aunt Stephanie even let him got without a helmet.
Micah had fun helping too!

Pumpkin Patch
Last week with the weather being so great I wanted to get out to our local pumpkin patch. Not that Micah would care much. Sure enough he didn't. He had fun at first just being outside and exploring something different. But then he just became interested in my shoes (a recent fetish of his) and of course never lost interested in his snack. He seriously eat the whole way there, the whole time we were there and the whole way back! I ran out of snacks a few minutes from home and he was not very happy about that.
It was nice getting out together as a family. We didn't get any pumpkins, we already had some at home. But I did get some butternut squash for Micah. The farm did have a little kids area but Micah is a bit too young to really get any of it. Next year will be perfect though.
He still just loves getting kisses from his Mama.

Ending a Chapter
Another chapter of Micah's life is closed. Yesterday I nursed him for the last time. And I have now become one of those mothers who cry over everything. Sheesh.
It was time to be done nursing, although I'm sure he would have been happy to have continued. But I am sad about the connection and the closeness that I had with him, that I will no longer have. Everyday I would get to sit, hold Micah and provide him what he wanted. (I'm not a crazy granola person about nursing don't worry). It is also another sign Micah is getting older and time is ticking by
I will miss him needing me (I know he needs me in other ways). I will miss being able to provide the comfort he wants. I don't get to hear the cute noises he would make nursing anymore. Or feel his hand reach up to my face, sometimes putting his little fingers in my mouth. Or see him put both his hands together over his head and play with extra fabric from the nursing cover. Or see his rosy cheeks when he is finished.
It has been a wonderful experience, also funny as I look back at the struggles I had at the beginning. My goal was to make it a year, I am so happy to have made it. Micah not having teeth I think helped. I'm sure it also helped that he is my first, so there were no other children running around distracting him. Now what to do with my freedom?

He is a Boy
The busy months of summer are done but for The Farmer and Mike they are turning into the busy months of fall and winter. We are adding guest rooms onto the house. Right now they are quickly trying to get it framed out and roofed before the snow comes.
On Tuesday they poured the footings. Micah of course had to help and watch what they were doing. When the cement truck arrived there was no doubt Micah is a boy. He could not take his eyes off the truck! I'm not sure it would have been the same for a girl.
And look at those cute boots.
An addition to this post, God is so good. It had been raining for a few days, but the morning of the pour and all through the pour it stayed clear. Later that day when it didn't matter for the footings started to rain again. Even in the seemingly inconsequential things God cares. We are so thankful!

Summer to Fall
When asked what is my favorite season I have a hard time answering. One, I'm not a "favorite" type of person of anything really. And two, there I things I love about every season. But I can say by the end of one season I am ready for the next, ready for a change. Yes, that means at the end of summer I am ready for some rain. Though this year summer seemed rather short. What are some things we will miss about summer you might wonder...
Golden rays falling on flowers.
Bare feet in grass.
Bursts of color all around.
Exploring the outdoors.
Sunny blue skies.
Long days....colorful and beautiful sunsets.
Fall seemed to have crept up on us suddenly.
One day on a walk I looked up and there it was.
It is showing up all around.
The colors of summer fading into the rich colors of fall.
Those first few welcomed leaves.
Now it is time to enjoy the warmth and beauty of the fall for the gift that it is. Which I do need to remind myself of. Often for me when fall approaches I get this feeling of time running out. Whether it is the realization that the year is nearing the end or that the fun and freedom of summer is over. Another year is slipping by, not this year, I am here, to enjoy this moment. Not the ones in the past or the ones in the future, but now.
