The Farmer has set a new goal, to do a hundred push-ups a day for the next year. Micah is coming to the age where he likes to imitate everything we do.
At first Micah thought it would just be fun to climb on The Farmers back to go for a ride. It was amusing to watch him try and get on while The Farmer was going up and down.
But what Micah did next was even more amusing. He did push-ups, his own version of course. He has changed a bit on how he does them now, but he continues to do them on his own. So funny!

He Likes Books
I think we got ourselves a reader. I was doing a few things in the kitchen and looked around the corner to check on what Micah was doing. And this is how I found him.
So cute! I quickly grabbed my camera a took a few pictures. He was totally into the book because he didn't care that I was there with the camera. He rolled over on his belly to read more and sat up. We have been reading to him since he was born so this makes me so happy.
His favorite books right now are a book about St. Nicholas and Richard Scarry's Cars and Trucks and Things That Go.

Water Painting
The other day I was wanting to do a fine motor activity with Micah. We have tried painting before, which is a gigantic mess. So this time he "painted" with water. Since construction paper turns darker when wet it worked perfect for him to get the practice without a major mess to clean.
Plus I did not have to worry about him putting paint in his mouth. Because by the end he was putting the paint brush in his mouth and drinking out of the cup. Definitely need to do this activity again.

Cars
Some friends gave us this Megablocks car track set to go along with the Megablocks we have. Micah has had a lot of fun with it. Actually The Farmer has had fun with it too. He tries to come up with different tracks for them to play with.
It didn't take Micah long to figure out how it worked. He would send the cars down over and over again. Also balls were sent down and he experimented to see what other objects would fit down the track. This boy could play with cars all day long.

Not Another Fall
On Tuesday Micah took a big fall. Naturally his fall from Tigard was almost healed. I really hope this won't be a weekly occurrence.
In our house we have wood in the kitchen floors then a transition to concrete to the back porch with concrete steps. Micah knows he is not allowed to go beyond the threshold. That morning he was riding around on his tricycle, I was putting a few things away in the living room. Next thing I hear his Micah crying. I go running and find him at the bottom of the stairs next to the overturned tricycle. He was crying and the cut on his nose was bleeding. I scooped him up and stopped the bleeding. The Farmer was in the house so he came and checked Micah over to make sure nothing serious was wrong.
What seemed to have happened his maybe since he was on the bike he thought he could go past the threshold. Then I think he road the bike down the stairs and then fell off.
Thankfully we had some popsicles in the freeze so we could ice his lip. To get him to sit still while we iced his lip he sat on my lap and watched some cartoons. Gasp! That is the first time he has ever watched cartoons and probably the only case he will until he is two. His lip was swollen by the next day and his nose is nearly healed.

Sharing Memories
When I was growing up we would walk up the street to the ponds to feed the ducks. Last weekend when we were in Tigard we took Micah up there. It was in the evening and it seemed like all the geese in the area were coming in for the night. We watched them fly in and land in the water. They got Micah's attention and so did the water. It will be fun to take him up there as he gets older to share with him memories that I have of the duck ponds.
A Different Kind of First
We made a last minute trip into Tigard this past weekend to see my family. It had been about a month since they had seen Micah, which is too long. While we were there it wasn't raining so we took advantage and went outside. Micah got to see the ducks up at the pond. (I'll get pictures up soon). One of the times he was outside Micah totally face planted. It looks worse then it is. Actually it looks worse now that it is scabbed over.
This is his biggest injury so far and his first real fall. It was bound to happen sometime. And it certainly won't be the last. One good thing is that it doesn't seem to bother him at all. Naturally though we are having family pictures taken on Friday. The Farmer refuses to let me put any concealer on Micah's nose. Hopefully I can do a bit of Photoshop work.

Hello Winter
Friday we woke to 3-4 inches of snow. It was beautiful. Where we live now we get the pretty snow. In Bend we would occasionally get the pretty snow. But usually it was the dry ugly snow that just blows around never really accumulating.
I knew we could and would be getting snow soon. It is pretty seeing the fall leaves peeking out through the white snow, especially the tamarack trees.
As we were sitting down to dinner Friday The Farmer spotted elk in the field across the street. We ran to the scope and binoculars and counted at least sixty elk, with at least one bull. It was so cool, but too dark to get a picture without dragging out the tripod.
We also got about 3-4 inches of soon on Saturday. I'm so glad the guys don't have to been up on the roof of the addition anymore.
Yesterday we saw this smaller buck go through our front yard, cross the road and through the neighbors field. I ran as quickly and as quietly as I could out the door to snap a few pictures.

Animal Noises
So I know I am posting two videos in a row but I just had to put this one up too. Micah is learning animal sounds and it is so cute. In the video I forgot to ask him about a sheep and since I filmed this he knows what a cow says too. It is so fun and amazing to see him learn!
P.S. No the tv is not on, well it is but just to music. Micah doesn't get to watch tv yet.

Tractor Bear Walk
This boy makes us laugh. Even the ordinary things that aren't necessarily funny become funny when Micah does them. Like this video so funny you must watch it is like he is bear walking, but with the tractor and front loader in his hands.
He is such a boy, even with a basket full of toys 95% of the day he plays with these tractors.

Eating
Micah enjoys feeding himself. He is also becoming more picky. I guess it is pay back for me for all the picky years I gave my parents. When it comes to vegetables the only way Micah will eat them is pureed. So despite the fact that he can eat most all foods I still am making baby food, but just the veggies. Micah is also not that keen on meat, gasp! I am finding ways to get him to eat it though. Like chicken smothered in barbecue sauce, he will occasionally eat ground meat if it has taco seasoning. Other then that he gets protein through beans and dairy. Unfortunately he doesn't like eggs either, I think it is the texture. He is definitely my son, he loves himself some pasta and bread.
The level in which Micah likes the food can be seen by the level of messiness on his face. As you see barbecue chicken, loves.
Black beans, really loves (at least this time).
And I just had to throw in this totally unrelated cute picture.

Block Genius
My boy is a genius! Not biased at all of course. :) Well what makes him a genius this time is he stacked three blocks all by himself, I didn't even have to show or ask him to do it.
He sees the blocks.
Got one on there.
Now lets get another one on.
There we go. (I didn't get the picture but he did take his hand away and they all stayed up).
And now on to the next.

Putting On
Micah has developed a funny quirk. He likes to put things over his head to hang around his neck. He particularly likes this wooden toy you see in the picture. I'm thinking I should crochet him a little scarf to play with.
He is also now attempting to put on certain clothing items. Like his coat, he is happy when he gets it to stay on his head. He is also starting to hold up his feet and put his sock by them. He loves putting on, or at least trying to put on shoes. He hasn't tried to put anything else on yet.

Harvest Party
On the 16th we had our annual harvest party. We make lots and lots of apple cider, around 350 gallons. This year we had a hard time finding apples since harvest is unusually late this year. Typically we use a variety of apples to add a depth with flavor to the cider. But this year we were only able to find one variety. The cider still tastes great!
Micah LOVES gator rides. Aunt Stephanie even let him got without a helmet.
Micah had fun helping too!
